I have a lot of chemical and fragrance allergies and sensitivities. Can you tell me if this is a fragrance free product or can you give me an idea of how strong it smells? Especially if it has a perfumey fragrance

I was struggling with hair loss and my hair just being limp and blah. I just started using these products a couple of weeks ago and I have already seen a HUGE difference in my hair. It is fuller, thicker and overall looks more healthy! I highly recommend them.

This is great advice, Dawn. I noticed that my hair is thinning as I age as well. Thanks for letting me know about Better Not Younger.

Is CeraVe cruelty free ?

Published

on

Cosmetics animal testing is a horribly cruel practice in which animals such as beagles and most often rabbits, are subject to allergy tests in the mucous membranes such as eyes, nose and mouth. These chemicals can cause irritation, burning, and corrosion of the eyes and skin such as in the infamous Draize test. What’s more, 50 percent of all animals die in lethal dose tests. That’s how horrible it is.

There are a host of non-animal and more humane ways to conduct the same sorts of research, and many readily available.

CeraVe is a brand of L’Oréal. L’Oréal, the cosmetics company, owns Lancôme, Kiehl’s, Clarisonic, Garnier, Maybelline and It Cosmetics in addition to its own line, L’oreal shelled out $1.3 billion to buy skin care brands CeraVe, AcneFree, and Ambi.

CeraVe is known for producing products that are gentle enough to use on sensitive skin and is often recommended by dermatologists. The Cerave site claims they don’t’ test on animals but if they sell in China, they do . It’s the law there. The CeraVe site lists that they sell here:

  • GREATER CHINA
  • MAINLAND CHINA
  • Brazil

In China, the health authorities still require and carry out animal testing for some products.

So no, CeraVe is not cruelty free. They are testing some products on animals in China and Brazil. CeraVe says ‘Certain health authorities may nevertheless decide to conduct animal tests themselves for certain cosmetic products, as it is still the case in China.’ CeraVe is choosing to sell where animal testing is mandatory for their products.

What alternatives are there to CeraVe?

I’ve got over 100’s cruelty-free brands on my cruelty-free beauty brand list that I update regularly! Find a new cruelty-free brand to love! Browse beautybulletins.com list of cruelty-free brands to find brands that don’t test on animals at any point during the production of their products.
